Once you’ve created a mobile profile, the only thing you need to do is to get people to go and check it out before, during and after your show!

Here are a few ideas on how to promote your profiles’ URL:

Use QR codes! They are the fastest way of connecting to your URLs

QR codes look like little dotted mosaics that, when decrypted by your fans’ smartphone cameras, can connect them directly to your URL. Most recent smartphones already have QR code readers installed, and those who don’t most probably have a QR code reader application that can be downloaded and installed.
Fanteraction automatically generates QR codes for every gig profile.

QR codes can be placed on cards, posters and flyers. They are an incredibly efficient way of quickly connecting to a URL without the hassle of actually typing in the address. You can use QR codes in very creative ways. An idea off the top of my head would be to put on a t-shirt with a big QR code on it and ask people in the audience to take pictures of you :-)

(In Japan, QR codes are a huge deal for bands. Read about it here).

Distributing cards and/or flyers before the gigs

This method consists of simply writing down your URL on a card or a flyer and start distributing them before the gig to people in the audience. By handing out the cards/flyers and explaining how Fanteraction works, you will have connected with your audience even before you played a single tune. This is a great way to intrigue people about who your are and what you do! Be sure to also let small stacks of a cards/flyers at the door and the bar and don’t forget to tell your audience you placed them there.

Put up posters at the venue with the URL

This is a good way of getting the audience’s attention between songs: put up poster containing the URL up on the venue’s walls, inside the venue.

Before and during the gig, be sure to tell the audience where they can find the posters along with the URLs.

You can also place posters in strategic areas like near the merch booth, at the door, and up by the bar.

Sharing your URLs on social networks before the gig

Once you have your Fanteraction profile ready, tell your fans through Twitter, Myspace, Facebook etc, and ask them to bookmark the URL in their phones so they can easily go fetch it when they have to without having to type it in the phone’s browser.

Once you have your gig profile up and running, do the same. To arouse your fans’ curiosity, let them know you will be delivering exclusive content at the gig through your profiles.
